Markora Scan, OCR and Export Notice
Updated: September 22, 2026
Capture and review
Camera scanning uses Apple’s system document camera. On supported devices, the system provides document-edge detection, automatic capture and a manual shutter; controls vary by OS version. Check that each page is complete and avoid shadows, glare, blur and obstructions. After camera capture, page review lets you inspect, retake, crop, rotate, delete or add pages before recognition.
Importing images or PDFs starts recognition. You can edit the resulting Markdown before confirming creation of a document or insertion into the current document. Keep the originals for comparison.
Recognition and structure
The current version uses on-device Apple Vision OCR and organizes Markdown using recognized text and its position. This is not Apple Intelligence and does not guarantee image understanding, correct grammar correction, or reconstruction of arbitrary formulas and diagrams as LaTeX or Mermaid source.
Text, numbers, punctuation, reading order, headings, lists and table structure may be incorrect. Handwriting, mixed languages, multiple columns, merged cells, complex formulas and low-quality pages particularly need review. Low-confidence indicators are aids; their absence does not mean that recognition is correct.
PDF and HTML export
Export lays out Markdown content anew and does not guarantee preservation of the scanned original’s layout, fonts, pagination, stamps or image positions. Paper size, fonts, table widths, diagrams and readers can affect the result. Before sharing or printing, inspect every page for missing characters, clipping, misalignment, page-break issues and missing images, formulas or diagrams.
Content and your rights
Make sure you have the right to scan, process and share the material. Compare names, dates, amounts, identifiers and key provisions in contracts, receipts, identity documents, medical records or financial records against the originals. Recognition and export do not authenticate a document, provide professional advice or replace an original.
This notice explains feature limitations. It does not exclude or limit any rights or liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Privacy and feedback
OCR runs on your device. Markora does not upload scan images or recognized text to its own servers. After creation or insertion, document edits may be stored in local recovery copies; file-provider synchronization and device backups depend on their respective settings. See the Privacy Policy and Data Deletion pages.
For recognition or layout issues, use the Support page and provide steps or a synthetic example without sensitive information.
